Jodie Turner-Smith, who is 37 years old, decided to file for divorce from Joshua Jackson, aged 45, back in October. Recently, she opened up about the separation, sharing her thoughts with the U.K. newspaper, The Times.

In her candid conversation, the actress expressed that she doesn’t view their four-year marriage as a failure. She acknowledged that despite their best efforts, some relationships just don’t pan out as expected, and that’s perfectly alright. Turner-Smith emphasized the importance of prioritizing one’s well-being, as well as that of their family and especially their children.

The star of “Queen & Slim,” Jodie Turner-Smith, reflected on the importance of self-reflection in various stages of life. She emphasized the need to assess whether we are staying true to ourselves, as failing to do so can leave visible scars not only on ourselves but also on those around us.

Regarding her marriage, she reframed it as not a failure but rather a beautiful chapter that has now come to an end, paving the way for new experiences for both herself and her ex-partner. She expressed excitement about this new phase in their lives.

Jodie and Joshua began dating in 2018 and got married in 2019. Their daughter, Juno, was born in 2020.

Turner-Smith explained that part of her decision to end the marriage was to set an example for Juno, prioritizing her happiness and well-being as a model for her daughter.

“The bravest thing in the world is to recognize when something’s not working and to make a move, and I always want to set that kind of example for my daughter,” Jodie shared.

She continued, “The big takeaway is that this is about just as much love and joy as it has always been. This is only about taking a step forward into a better life for everybody involved.”

When Jodie filed for divorce last year, she cited irreconcilable differences and listed their date of separation as September 13, 2023. In his response, Joshua listed the date of separation as September 30, 2023.

They are both asking for shared joint legal and physical custody of Juno.
